Maneater Installs the New Version for iPod

As a die-hard fan of the iPod, I've always cherished my old good iPod Classic. After all was ready, I decided to install the new version of iTunes and see if it would work seamlessly with my beloved device. However, I wasn't prepared for the surprise that awaited me.

When I connected my iPod classic with iTunes, the exact same thing happened as it did when I first installed the new version - the iTunes took 5 seconds to disappear from screen without any warning. I was taken aback, wondering if Apple had ended support for the iPod Classic on newer versions of iTunes, especially on Windows 7.

I decided to create a dual boot on my computer to install Windows 11 just to see if it would make a difference. Upon opening iTunes, nothing froze - it simply opened up with a blank initial start screen. Interestingly, when I checked Explorer, the iPod showed up as an external drive. What's more, Windows (regardless of the version) recognized the iPod just fine.

On my Mac, things worked differently. The iPod classic works perfectly in Finder and Music. My trusty iPod Video 5.5th generation with 80GB of storage (later to be called iPod Classic) seemed to have no issues connecting to my computer.

It's unclear why iTunes disappeared without warning, but it seems that the new version might be causing some compatibility issues with older devices like the iPod Classic. While Windows recognizes the device just fine, iTunes' behavior is still mysterious.

If you're an iPod Classic user like me, don't worry - your device isn't dead yet! You can still use it to store music and files, even if iTunes doesn't work seamlessly. The question remains: will Apple continue to support older devices with future updates? Only time will tell.
